House with a Terrace, Surrounded by a Beautiful Forest: pS Arkitektur

White interior and black facades represent a design decision which will always be in fashion. Swedish company pS Arkitektur have represented their version of this kind of design. The house, surrounded by a beautiful forest, is in Nacka, outside Stockholm. According to the task all the rooms had to be placed on the same level; for this purpose the most distant part of the house is based on the pile, whilst another part has a foundation, consisting of a concrete block. The architects have proposed a rational layout to arrange all the internal space in a line, forming a long chain of rooms. The facades are covered with roofing felt. The southern facade of the building adjoins the wooden outdoor terrace, which gradually turns into the natural landscape.

Small Scandinavia: the Prefabricated House by Claesson Koivisto Rune Architects

According to the architects Claesson Koivisto Rune a contemporary Scandinavian house should look like this prefabricated house called Tind. The name of the project is the word for Mountain Peak in Norwegian. Despite this, the roof of the house is not acute-angled, and the peak is cut off. It is a typical Swedish single-pitch roof, but with some flatness. The project was built by Fiskarhedenvillan for the Globo Art Space – non-commercial area aimed to promote design, architecture and culture. The distinctive feature of the Tind except the unusual roof is the window niches. There are only a few windows, but of a big size, stretching out on the full height of the facade. Due to this feature this facade appears as a rhythmic alternation of voids and fullnesses. The main material of interior design is a Nordic timber. In the photos below you can see the different colors of the concept.

‘Casa Caburé’ House in the Ecological Place by Nómade Architects

This house (Nómade Architects) is located in the ecological place Los Huemules (Argentina). The construction of the house was fully subordinated to the spirit and the proportions of the surrounding nature. The size of the house perfectly corresponds to the free area between the trees and even the height it’s rising from the ground is only 45 cm. The one storey housing of the project is 130 m². The simple layout of the house provides a comfortable separation between public and private spaces. Wood and metal which became main materials for construction provide the spatial and textural warmth. Not to break the harmony of the composition, the beech wood is used the same as the surrounding forest. Large panoramic windows also amplify and complement the composition. The real life of intimacy with nature should look like this.

The House on the Beach of the Pacific Ocean by Nicolás del Rio and Max Núñez

This house in a Chilean city Quintero was built by the studios Nicolás del Rio and Max Núñez in 2009. The tight budget and unfavorable natural conditions defined the basic lines of design. La Baronia House is situated not far from the Pacific Ocean, so it can cause the problems for the construction because of corrosion. Due to the using of two inert materials – glass and weathering steel – this problem was decided. The house has two levels designed differently from each other to create different relations with the horizon. Common areas upstairs decorated and made of variation of wood, whereas the bedrooms downstairs have horizontal window, detached from the wooden structure. This architectural idea has allowed maintaining access to the beautiful views in an uncomfortable for construction place.
