It was the Chinese who first created the miniature trees that we now know as bonsai. But now it is very popular to cultivate the trees at home, although it is quite difficult pastime. For the fans of Bonsai trees we can offer the creation of Azuma Makoto. Talented artist has made them of colored blocks just like Legos. His masterful reproductions repeat the form of several bonsai styles with precise granularity, so as a result we can see very beautiful sculpture.

Country House in Ibiza by Blacam and Meagher Architects

In 2011 on an ancient area of Morna Vallye, Ibiza (Spain) the beautiful modern house was built among the pine trees. The Blacam and Meagher Architects placed the home in the largest terrace where ancient local stone walls and the pines stand. The idea was to build a complex of small low buildings and courtyards with external gardens and shaded seating areas. This is the principal house on an estate which has a second smaller house for guests. For the construction different materials were used, among which: the walls are stucco on ceramic blocks, the floor made of stone and exteriors are made of local limestone and ceramic. The interior layout and furniture were also designed by architects. The large and high porch of the house extends the living-dining areas. The bedrooms, toilet, patio, outdoor shower are located in the low long part of the building. Rainwater on the flat roofs is collected and stored in a centralized tank for reuse. Landscaping is also decorated by architects with herbs and Olvos.

The best decision for a big family by h20 Architectes: ‘furniture-wall’

Once upon a time residents of one small apartment located in the building complex in Menuires (France) have decided to renovate their living space. The designers’ task was almost impossible: they had to maximize the space without modifying the supporting framework of the structure, to make two bathrooms instead of existing one and to place eight beds within the apartments 55m2 giving opportunity of separate access for each. It was a corner apartment with views in three cardinal directions therefore another task was to retain the possibility to enjoy the panoramas. The architects (h20 Architectes) have made the best decision: to make the wooden ‘furniture-wall’ inside the apartment. It solves the main problem – a lack of space, and serves an additional function of opening up the panoramic views in all directions. This furniture-wall provides access to all items of the construction. There are beds, storage, reading corner attached to a window, kitchen and bathroom. Sleeping nooks are divided with curtains and supplied with reading lamps. The whole furniture-wall is made of different types of high quality woods.

The Candy Room Painted by Red Design Group

This is a magic candy store located in Melbourne. According to the designers – Red Design Group (Australia) – there was an idea to create a one-of-a-kind design with playful, simple and somewhat illusional space for the Candy Room. As a result we see a masterpiece of design! Every detail here is fit a single design. Elements of a room are drawn on white space using a black lines. A kitchen splashback is drawn complete with a boiling pot on the stove or a framed portrait of one of the kids. At the same time real items perfectly coexist with drawing, merging with each other. Lampshade made of thin wire, simulates lines drawn in pencil. Candy Room resembles a coloring book.

White is a perfect color for the kitchen. It symbolizes purity and makes the room larger and brighter, supplementing the daylight. Since antiquity white color signified detachment from worldly things, aspirations to the spiritual simplicity. Kitchen is a proper room for disappearing from the bustle of the real world and staying along with your closest people. Designers use white color to expand the visual space. So if you have a small kitchen – white interior is the best for it. There is an opinion that the use of a single color for the interior of the room – it’s bad taste. But there are some different shades of white. For example, there is a snow white, porcelain white, silver white, pearl white, milky white, marble white, ivory white and platinum white. So you can choose different shades of white to decorate and furnish your kitchen. An nice clean-looking feeling is given when white is used for basic wall color as well match the furniture also in white.

‘HouseWING’ by AnLstudio + Heebon

AnLstudio has just completed its extraordinary project – “house WING” in Seoul (Korea). It is a renovated for an artist apartment, but the building is so unique that it would be better to consider it as individual work of art. The apartment is situated on the tenth floor of a historical landmark building. The space was visually divided by white framework into two clusters. This white construction has a form of airplane wing with strip light fixtures embedded into it. Lamps illuminate the entry, living room, library and study. The bedroom, kitchen and bathroom are located away from the public zone.

East House Renovation

Renovations sometimes make incredible things. Today we present you one of the products of renovation. This is the East House Byron Bay, former ordinary brick house that was built in 1990. And now it is renovated with sustainable design applied. The renovation was made according to green architecture design concepts. Due to the East-west orientation of the building there is an optimum access of the sun through the sustainable construction. The passive solar design and thermal mass wall provide the house heating. There are three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a large outdoor entertainment area, yoga platform inside of the house, and an outdoor shower. A space for gardening is also available.
