Gorgeous Schnabel House by Frank Gehry

In 2006, Jon Platt, Tony Award-winning producer of “Angels in America” and “The Book of Mormon” purchased Frank Gehry’s Schnabel House in Brentwood. The conception of this unusual residence was called in many ways: deconstructive design, free-form architecture, career watershed, status symbol, family home, sculpture. But it is really stunning! The 5,700 sq ft residence is composed of four stand-alone buildings: the main house, office, guesthouse, the garage/gym. The house also features a sauna, a reflecting pool, as well as an Olympic size lap pool. According to the architect this is “the design I had fantasized for my own house”. Platt has modernized the house to include iPad controlled home system and convoluted mechanized skylight system to cool the interior spaces with minimal energy consumption. Good work.
