The Unique Two Storey Water House In Amsterdam

It becomes popular to live on water in the Netherlands, but the houseboats shouldn’t be ordinary appearance. The water house, I’m going to describe, has modern and elegant look. It situated in The Amstel River in Amsterdam and was designed for the specific needs of owner. His desire was to have an open plan and the best view of the water. The curved lines of the facade are followed by this requirement. The kitchen is open and gives a panoramic view over the Amstel River and cozy terrace. On the ground level there is also a living area and a bedroom. Going upstairs you’ll find bathroom, study and other necessary rooms. To accentuate the round front lines of the exterior it is decorated with shiny aluminum. The white-plastered interior walls and ceilings create a seamless passage from outside to inside.

Bulgarian Conservatory building by Ignatov Architects

This building isn’t exactly a house for living, this Conservatory House in Bulgaria is intended to host small music events. But it has so many original architectural solutions, that we just couldn’t leave it without review. Diagonal and horizontal intersecting lines in it’s exterior make it look futuristic and yet remind of the tree branches to help the building blend with the surrounding nature. But that the main purpose of those beams is to be building’s frame to resist tectonic activities. This project in many aspects recalls Ignatov Architects’ other projects – this studio’s style is easily recognizable.

Contemporary Modular Houses by Ecomo-Get Your House In 4 Days

This contemporary compact house is located in South Africa. It was built in about 4 days and at quite a small price. Impossible? Not with the new Ecomo technology of modular construction which allows to build the house in any place and of any size using as many modules as you need. The modules are custom made and mostly of wood so the resulting houses are green to the environment not to mention the solar panels on the roof. During the summer or in the hot geography this house is absolutely autonomous and doesn’t even needs the power line. Building a house from blocks affords high efficiencies – there almost no waste, eliminating of which is usually expensive. For more information check out the Ecomo’s web site here.

Extraordinary Coast House in California by Marmol Radziner Architecture
This house is situated on a picturesque location on the Pacific coast and designed to maximize the benefits of the surrounding countryside. It has huge windows, so that the ocean is visible from every room and the interior doesn’t lacks natural illumination. Interior design complements architecture very well; the main theme is the contemporary combination of stone and wood with a curved roof as a striking feature which implies original sloping ceilings too. Altamira Residence has everything to make you feel relaxed: apart from serene landscape which is ideal for walking there is a large swimming pool and Jacuzzi in the backyard.

Morgan Satterfield’s House Remodeling Project

The Brick House is a web blog started by Morgan Satterfield and her boyfriend Jeremy Chlebik. They are writing about their own house and what they do to make it better. Remodeling began back in 2008, still goes on and to Morgan it seems like she would like to do that forever. And why not if this hobby makes her house better and doesn’t costs too much – she has a rule of $100 which means that she doesn’t spends more than that on one item. But most of the thing they do themselves and with the help of their family and friends. It’s hard to believe all that when you look at the pictures – the interior Morgan created is great and it’s amazing how many great ideas she found. If you are going to remodel your home in near future you should definitely refer to her blog here.
