Alki Townhomes in Seattle by Johnston Architects

These charming contemporary twin buildings are located only a few steps away from Alki Beach, Seattle. The design is really luxurious. The advantages that can be seen outside are the impressive glass facades and the roof terraces opened towards the city to catch the neighborhood, the Seattle cityscape and the beach. Both houses have three bedrooms with two master suites and fitted by a garage for two cars, spacious kitchens, walk-in showers, Jacuzzi bath, natural bamboo and slate flooring, and much more high-end finishes. The rooms located right beneath the roofs are splendid with their unusual geometry. These twins offer friendly and warm atmosphere. More information here.

Nautilus House by Javier Senosiain: The Design Inspired by Sea

Looking at some designer’s creations one can be astonished by the power and the creativity of the human mind. This can be said about the Nautilus house located near Mexico City. It is a unique shell shaped house designed by Mexican architect Javier Senosiain. The house design is very innovative, unusual and audacious. Javier Senosiain decided to bring the life aquatic into architecture. This house turns the form of the Nautilus shell and is wonderful to look at and to be in. The interesting feature of this huge shell is a striking entry cut into a wall of colorful stained glass. Inside it casts multi-colored spots of light onto walls. But it’s not the only surprise you will find.

The Shell House in the Forest by ARTechnic Architects

Over the last years Japanese architecture becomes more and more inspiring and gives the world the increasing amount of unique ultramodern design ideas. This outstanding house is another example of extraordinary Japanese architecture. It was created by ARTechnic architects and is located in the forest near Kitasaku, a district of Nagano. There are not too many of such intact places in Japan; the surrounding trees and the tree in the patio make you feel very calm and close to the nature. Unlike it is with other contemporary homes you won’t find too many sharp edges in the Shell Residence design. ARTechnic didn’t only design the exterior, but also created the special furniture collection to complement the general concept of the house.

Aviator Furniture Collection by Restoration Hardware

There is a contemporary furniture that is comfortable and looks extremely cool. There is a retro furniture and it’s much warmer and unusual. Some where in the middle is the Restoration Hardware - a company specialized on contemporary vintage furniture. It has recently released the Aviator furniture collection consisting of the Wing table, Aviator bookcase, coffee table and a selection of chairs: Aviator, Rocket and Spitfire. The furniture has aerodynamic inspires shapes wrapped in polished aluminum with exposed seams and screws. All of the pieces look very much like the World War II fighter planes parts. To make the collection look vintage the whiskey leather and aluminum frames were distressed and have intentional (and unique) small scratches and abrasions.

London Prism For A Room For London Competition By Atelier 37.2

Prism “A Room for London” by Atelier 37.2 architects shows a hotel room which is inspired by light. The architects’ concept was based on Isaac Newton's particle theory that stated white light was a mixture of all the colours. This extraordinary hotel room is situated on the roof of the Queen Elizabeth hall. The windows are composed of a series of multi-coloured glass panels used in conjunction with wooden slats. The varying lengths match the specific wavelength of each corresponding colour. This Prism hotel room is spacious enough and it is divided into three areas: a bedroom, a living area and a bathroom one. But the peculiar is that there are no doors to separate these areas, so we are looking at a single room with the different pieces of furniture in different parts of it. This sculptural and colourful structure offsets the monochromatic grey building it sits upon. And as you can see on the picture below it can be seen far away adding some brightness to the grey scenery.

The Floating House Project by Robert Harvey Oshatz: Fennell Residence

Robert Harvey Oshatz is probably one of those architects who deserves a separate category on every design blog. His style is easily recognizable and described by himself as organic architecture and green sustainable architecture. This is his last project after the Tree House and this time it’s a floating house located on the picturesque riverside. The huge glass wall faces the river and frames the sunset, making the house a very romantic place. Wooden interior with curvilinear ceiling and walls contributes to the overall experience of warmth and coziness. This house is guaranteed to make it’s inhabitants happy and enjoy their time there.
