Saving Money with Anti Crise Chair by Pedro Gomes
From the first sight Anti Crise Chair is the designer's funny invention to make the ordinary thing being extraordinary. But the main idea of Portuguese industrial designer Pedro Gomes, who has created this chair, was totally different. In the era of difficulties and crises he tried to do his best as a designer - he proposed to the world a facility to save the salary. There are three strategic parts of his product: the first one is a traditional money pot; the second part is a feeling of emergency which is connected with the only one way to have an access to the saved up money - to cut a chair with a handsaw integrated into the back of the chair; and the third part is a birth of a new material personality after the procedure of getting money. Pedro Gomes positions his product as an experimental object, a furniture piece played as a manifest.

Several Original Benches
Tube bench design by Peter Donders is a real sculpture. Creation of the final bench - it is a complex process. It needs using of high technology with constructing 3D model of a shape to make many future similar objects. But at first simple tube has been stretched and optimized via interactive simulation to create an optimal form. Then this form is "baked" to make it solid and after this process the preparation of 3d model starts. Crash bench is designed by Liliana Ovalle (England). This item shows what can be done of fine and perfect lines of usual objects due to unexpected impact of something uncontrolled. The bench made of fiberglass and steel structure actually carries a deep philosophical meaning. You can read about other interesting benches below. ‘Dandelion’ Stool for your Garden
If you have no flowers in your garden you can use the Dandelion stool instead, or it will be even better if you put there several stools. From the first sight they are not much like the stools because of their brightness and unusual design. But in fact it’s very comfortable stool made of plywood. The ‘flower head’ of the stool is very soft, heat and water resistant, moreover it has removable covers. So you can try different colors for one and the same stool. Placed in the yard, stools will make it more colorful and cozy. The Dandelion stool is ergonomically designed in the UK by DesignK. Bookshelf with Letters by Studio Saporiti
Roberto Saporiti and Eva Alessandrini from Italian Studio Saporiti have given the opportunity to enjoy the “ABC” bookshelf to the world. The design of this product has defined its name. The bookshelf consists of individual cubes that have various partitions within. Due to the partitions the cubes form numbers and letters, which can be organized into the sentences, as if they are written with a help of the pieces of boards. So we have a “speaking” bookshelf. On the photo below you can read a sentence “read your book case”. The cubes of three different sizes can be assembled not only into a bookcase. Using your fantasy you can construct different combinations making a table or a chair, for example. Side by Side Chairs by Twodesigners
Urban world is very static and has not very much fantasy in it. Usual furniture is created using the same principles as it used in the previous centuries. “Twodesigners” gives us possibility to diversify our environment, to invent other purposes for simple things. This project took part of Cork city culture 2010. Eleban - the “side by side chairs” – is rather simple and encouraging to fantasize construction. Looking at this construction the desire to rotate it and to invent different missions for it appears. This chair is rather transportable and can be placed both indoors and outdoors. The connection of several chairs can be used as airport chairs or in another public places.

Furniture made of cork by Jonathan Honvoh & Rodrigue Strouwen
What can be done of simple cork? Usually the biggest benefit of cork is our memories of good taste of wine. But Jonathan Honvoh and Rodrigue Strouwen, two space designers, have invented another use of this simple thing. Their work is their own poetry - both fun and offbeat. Apart from the design of space in the strict sense, “TwoDesigners” make objects based on the connection of different elements. They propose to make furniture of two elements made of cork and joined by metal hoop. The use of cork has several advantages. The elastic properties of cork allows producing the joins without screws or adhesives. Each block is reconstructed from waste production of wine corks, so it represents an economy of raw material. Elements of interior made of cork are multifunctional and modular.

Original Stitching Concrete by Florian Schmid
Could you imagine soft concrete? Have a look, German designer Florian Schmid has done the impossible by creating the Stitching Concrete stools. This project was realized by using the new material Concrete Canvas which combines the softness of cloth with the stability of concrete. These stools are made by folding fabric that’s impregnated with cement then drenching it in water. It consists of cement layered between fabric and a PVC backing. Once soaked it can be manipulated for a few hours before hardening. A wooden mold supports it while drying within 24 hours. I can not but note some interesting features such as waterproofness, fire resistance, resistance against UV and durability.
