Watson Table with DNA-shaped Legs by Paul Loebach

Premiering at Milan design week 2011 Watson table is one of the pieces of furniture from the “Some Recent Experiments” collection which was created by the American designer Paul Loebach. It focuses on the innovative use of form and material. The table got its name after scientist James Watson, known for discovering the helical structure of DNA. Its entwined curved legs give the impression of ease and elegance. Watson Table has a very organic look that is nevertheless refined and sophisticated as well. Inspired by English furniture of the late 1600's, the table is made from a wood and carbon composite and creates a symbolic composition of maximum strength with minimal materials.

Elegant Spring Pierced Furniture by Esedra

We want to present to you an elegant and cool Spring pierced furniture collection by the Italian company Esedra. It is rather simple yet stylish. The designers used simple sheets of metal. The collection contains armchairs, tables and poufs that are either fretworked and chromed or lacquered, or upholstered in 1 or 2 colours. Each set comes in four versions: upholstered with leather in different colours, perforated with an enticing design or in the steel version for an outside garden or patio. These pieces of furniture look really fresh and creative. I guess, such as this house furnishing can be perfect for contemporary room interior decorating themes.

Unusual Shibafu Table by Emmanuelle Moureaux Architecture and Design

Have a look at this bright and even a bit odd Shibafu table created by Japanese based company Emmanuelle Moureaux Architecture and Design. The designer used 56 slender coloured acrylic sticks, embedded randomly into a piece of transparent acrylic which serves as the surface for the table. The sticks look refracting and reflecting light as if they were soaking under water. They appear and disappear, depending on the angle at which you view them. This table surely creates a certain bright and jolly mood. Cool and creative!

Interesting Low Maple Table with Glass Leg by John Houshmand

John Houshmand, a company “dedicated to the eternity of trees”, presented its new low table with a glass leg. It is made from the maple. This furniture piece has an original organic look. The asymmetric form is really interesting, and the glass detail adds elegance to the interior. Some words from the architects: “Much of the beauty that is found in one piece of wood is what facilitates the creation of each individual design. All wood has the potential to change with use and though time.” This table looks modern yet natural; it will be suitable both for home design and for the office.

Sculptural Handmade Makemei Furniture

Sometimes the designer’s thought exceeds the structural limits imposed by the materials used for creating the furniture. Here is the great example, the Makemei furniture collection designed by Camiel Weijenberg and Talenia Phua Gajardo. Makemei is the union of the Chinese-Mandarin “Mei” – gorgeous, and English “Make” – do, make. And the name for it is rather suitable. The sculptural pieces of furniture will turn your home into the art gallery. It will surely draw everyone’s attention due to its unusual and creative shape. Some may seem abstract enough that you might not know what the function is at first. Have a look at the sofa “aj double chair”, designed so that two people can sit facing each other, or the “RD Table”, with its inclined surface for increased visibility of books and magazines. All the furniture is handmade.
