On the Land as Well as on the Sea:  H3 House by 314 Architecture Studio
The inspiration of this extraordinary wonderful project was love for the yachts, which the initiators of the project feel. "H3" is located in a very picturesque place in Athens. The two-floor house was designed by Greek firm 314 architecture studio for single family. The main part of the house, supported by special pillars, 'hovers' over a large swimming pool. Thanks to a large area, the house accommodates a large number of rooms. Garage, technical rooms, a gym and sauna, two bedrooms with private bathrooms designed for guests are located on the first floor. On the second floor, in the lower part of it, there is a dining room and a large living room. These spaces are separated from the terrace by sliding glass partition. On the upper part of the second floor there is the green terraced platform. Inside of the upper console volume, supported by the pillars, there is a bedroom, lounge with exit to the roof, bathroom and cloakroom. The house is eco-friendly and ‘provides energy saving for cooling and heating systems through the means of the coil fan’.

Modern beautiful Mosman House by PBA

Australian studio Popov Bass Architects completed work on Mosman House in 2010. This modern three-story mansion is located in Sydney. The idea was to create a simple and calm design that blends into the surrounding landscape. The residence features five bedrooms. On the first floor there is a children's playroom and a garage. On the second floor you’ll find a seating area and master bedroom. The library is situated on the top level. As for decoration, the rough concrete walls are replaced by subtle wood finish, panoramic windows and mainly light interior make the house bright and cozy.

Green house design: the Houl by Simon Winstanley Architects

The Houl is a modern one-story "long house" in Scotland, designed by the company Simon Winstanley Architects. The most important is thing that the building meets all the requirements of green standards. The project even has received several design awards for residential. The open plan allowed to place all the main rooms along one wall which is almost entirely glazed. Living room, kitchen and dining room combined into one room with a magnificent view. This block of bedrooms is characterized by a interesting design solution - the roof has a slope which follows the slope of the site. Woodway Residence Close to the Nature by Schuchart/Dow

Here is northwest modern house design by Schuchart/Dow called Woodway Residence. It has beautiful exterior and interior. 11000 square feet contemporary home is the result of desire for privacy, love of nature, and deep appropriation for craftsmanship and design. Woodway residence was created for the couple tired of the city life. In this calm and wonderful nook one can live in harmony with nature enjoying horse riding and gardening. The house is the example of the rural dwelling. It is one-storeyed, built of simple materials and surrounded by lots of plants and pond. The main materials used are stone, concrete and wood. Sophisticated structure creates an intimate relationship with the natural world.

Contemporary Villa in Szentendre, Hungary by Architema

30 miles away from Budapest, surrounded by picturesque rural landscape, plenty offields and forests, this beautiful modern house, named Villa in Szentendre, was designed by Architema. The house is situated on a hill and has good views of the area, including the valley of the Danube River. The main part of the concept is usage of panoramic windows: they provide natural lighting and help weld the house together with the outdoor space. Floor plans are straightforward, logical. On the ground floor there are no rooms, part-walls form the boundaries. The bedrooms are placed upstairs ? accommodating the 3 person family living in the house ? and connected with the garden via the planted roof terrace. The geometry shapes in combination with natural materials and warm colors make interiors softer and more harmonious.

Modern House of Wood and Copper from Davide Macullo

This unusual modern house was designed by architect Davide Macullo, and basic materials for its construction were wood and copper. In addition to these natural materials architects had to use concrete to create solid foundation for the house, located on the sloping site. The house was built in the southern part of Switzerland, surrounded by amazingly beautiful nature. Garage and outbuildings of the house are hidden in the hill not to spoil the appearance of the structure. West Seattle Residence by Lawrence Architecture

West Seattle Residence is a spacious modern house by Lawrence Architecture built in Seattle. During the construction were used materials such as steel, glass and concrete. Raw gray concrete in the façade and inside the house creates ascetic and special style. The house is located on a sloping site and has three levels, although one of them is the semi basement, and another is located almost under the roof. In the area of the living room ceiling height is over seven meters, which allows to achieve a stunning effect. Glazed walls let fresh air into the room and plenty of light. This contemporary project is 2010 Grand Award winner in the 30th Annual Builder\'s Choice Awards. Full description look here.

Villa BH by WHIM Architecture

This beautiful eco-friendly villa is located in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. Villa BH, designed by WHIM Architecture, is one-storey house situated around a central patio with several trees. Thanks to the glass façade over 20 meters long the house seems to be transparent and incredibly light. Inside program includes dining and living areas, kitchen and two bedrooms. Insulated façades, roofs and floors provides privacy. And add few words about eco facilities. Heat pump and 2 fireplaces for wood warm the house during winter season. The roof is covered with sedum, that regulates the distribution of the rainwater gently. There are 20 solar panels for electricity on the roof of the garage.
