Modest house

Modest Sunset Cabin by Taylor Smyth Architects

Have you ever dreamed to have a small, cozy wooden house far from city bustle? Customer of this unusual Sunset Cabin had such dreams. The house is located in Canada and designed by Taylor Smyth Architects. The house is very modest, there is only one room and a small hall inside. It hasn?t all modern conveniences; there is only electricity and furnace heating. But it is not so important because beauty and peace make you forget about everything. Of course, this house is not meant for permanent residence: it is not equipped enough. Sunset Cabin was created to spend a few days there, relaxing on the nature and to gathering your thoughts.

Modest single family beach house by BDA Architects

This house has been built to replace the old owner’s building on the site. The client’s wish was to make a two storey opened area connecting the living room and the garden and it was successfully fulfilled. The house has been planned and constructed with effectiveness and economy in mind – there is a water tank to collect and reuse water, a lot of opening windows for good ventilation, mostly light and practical finishings used for all surfaces to reduce sun heating. This is a very practical residence for one family, plus there are guest bedroom and bathroom on the main level.
