Wooden banisters

The Blue Residence in Greece by Nikos Koukourakis

Blue is usually a cold and unwelcoming color, but this large luxury house in Dionisis, Attica is an exception. Its bluish illumination harmonizes with the night starry sky and gives a feeling of calmness and serenity. To some people it might remind of the ubiquitous Tron movie, but the house was built before the movie premiere. Large two-storey tall windows connect interior with the patio that has a large swimming pool and the entertainment area. The contemporary interior of this house slightly insinuates that it was created by a Greek designer. We especially favor the unusual staircase with stunning wooden handrail behind the glass wall that complements to the living room’s interior.

Branches as a handrail for your stairs
It’s great when you’re doing something yourself in your home. And I’m not talking of economy – it gives your home individuality and makes it unique. Danielle at Style-Files made these banisters of ordinary branches to add rustic feel which she claims is a general theme of her house. Of course these handrails are finished by a professional carpenter and probably would not look so great otherwise. The last picture is a handrail implementation by another internet user. Another problem that you might face when just sticking a regular piece of wood somewhere in your house is that it is very probable to have termites inside that will eventually destroy not only your handrails, but also some other wooden furniture. Such things should better be properly finished.
